Mobius House

Program, circulation, structure appears to be seamless integration. Activities (work, social life, family life and individual time) interviewing in a loop. Mobius strip as a diagram upon light, space, materials, time and movement organizes into a structure.
The double-locked torus conveys arrangement of two different pathways traces the progress of two people living together yet apart, meeting at certain shared points or spaces.
The spatial interplay created four loose quadrants. The upper and lower studies are complementd by bedrooms.
The structure of movement is transposed to the programmatic organization. Unfurls horizontality emphasizing the surrounding environment. Concrete is used to create furniture, glass facede are used for partitioning.
Perceptual mobility?
A spatial loop of a Mobius-strip continuously winds around it self; meets, broadens and crosses over itself. The only free extending end turn on its axis moving up as a stair to the residential storey. A ramp lead to kitchen, living and verandah. From here a conically broadening stair turn around on itself leads to upper level with study to the left and two children’s bedrooms and baths to the right. A twist to the left and descend is parents bedroom and a second study where the access loop is first entered. The structure encircles and moves around the garage.
The interior and exterior joins via unframed sheets of glasses and concrete acting as interior and exterior walls at the same time. Furniture are fitted in concrete.
Circulation loop: The ground floor entrance hall is on the south. The immediate ascend on the dogleg stair brings one to the first floor level. A kinked corridor and a landing end in another stair. Descend from this brings one to the lower ground level, doubling back under the landing before climbing up to the starting point.
Stiff ribbons of glass and concrete fold over and around each other creating unusual 3dimensional interconnecting spaces with various views under over and across. There are no windows so to speak only glass walls so the space connects with the landscape as well as with each other.
